YOU'LL NEED Wood, wood glue, saw, 1.5" nails |
||
| INSTRUCTIONS | ||
| 1. | Measure and cut pine board according to the diagram above. | |
| 2. | Drill four ¼" diameter holes in the floor for drainage. | |
| 3. | Drill a 1 ½" diameter entrance hole in the front board and predator guard (see diagram for spacing). | |
| Tip | For the best results, use 1.5" long galvanized nails and wood glue (Wood glue should be applied to all joints just prior to nailing). | |
| 4. | Begin assembling by attaching the back of the birdhouse to the sides, placing a nail 1" from the top and bottom on each side. (The edges of the sides should be flush with the outer surface of the back.) | |
| 5. | Place a nail 1" from the front and back edges on each side board to attach the floor. | |
| 6. | Center the roof by having an equal overhang on all sides. Place two nails in each side board to attach the roof. | |
| 7. | Use four nails to attach the predator guard to the front, making sure the entrance holes are aligned. | |
| 8. | For cleaning purposes, the front of the birdhouse will lift open from the bottom. The front should be attached by one nail on each side, 1.5" from the roof (Do not use wood glue when attaching the front). Leave a ¾" gap between the top of the front board and the roof for ventilation. | |
